Bob White Electrix is one of Australasia’s leading electric motor service providers.
Founded in 1946 by Bob White operating out of his small backyard workshop located in Geelong. Today, Bob White Electrix is the preferred choice of OEMs and operators of medium to large electric motors and generators in Australia and further abroad.
Bob White Electrix service, repair and sell leading OEM electric motors including ABB, GE, Siemens, Toshiba, Mitsubishi, WEG, TECO, plus much more. Its major service facility and workshop is located in Geelong, Victoria, near major road, air and sea ports.
The service facility includes extensive repairs, machining, fitting and testing capabilities, including Australia’s first high-speed balance pit, serviced by two 60 and 70-tonne gantry cranes. The facility also has four 1MW diesel generators onsite, enabling off-grid testing when required.
The company was acquired by ABB in 2012, before being purchased by an independent family-owned group in July 2022. Returning the business into local hands and continuing Bob White’s legacy as Australia’s leading electric motor and generator servicing company.

Established Corio facility near Shell and Ford plants, both major clients at the time.
1964
HV Coil Facility
New HV coil manufacturing plant opens, increasing Bob White's service capabilities.
1984
Ingenious Power Source
New Ingenious power source commissioned to allow off-grid testing of high capacity electric motors. The power consists of 4 x 1MW diesel generators (locomotives) and is still used to this day.
1998
High-Speed Balancer
Australia’s first high-speed balancer is commissioned for testing rotors up to 700MW and 140T.
2012
ABB Acquires Bob White Electrix
ABB acquires Bob White Electrix to integrate services into their global operation.
2018
Traction Motor Area
New traction motor area commissioned as part of ABB's contract with Melbourne's High Capacity Metro Trains project.
2022
BWE Back in Local Hands
Bob White Electrix is acquired by an independent family-owned group from Geelong, placing it back in local hands.
